Hey, i took your advice and changed the speed to ISO 100, and turned on the flash. I tried the flash on low, and it wasnt bright enough. It looks better on normal, but its just a tad too bright.

before

after, iso 100, flash: normal

thanks

Glad to help, and it all depends on how far away you are, but the flash on low will give you more natural colors and lighting that close. If you notice the lower part of the plant is overblown (too bright). The hardest part is getting an angle on the frogs so you do not get the flash marks on their skin. I have some other lighting ideas I might try, but have just not had time to do so. I do have a much better flash that makes a huge differnce, but I need a better way to mount it to the camera for the frogs. On top it is in the way too much, and way too high. I have taken a couple with holding it in my other hand, but that can be tough also.

Now if I could just get my imitators to pose for me like my azurues do...

Here is one I took today to get a little closer:

It has a plug that goes into the camera, the F707 does not use a hot shoe, but the F717 does.

Ya, the flash was just a bit to bright on normal. But a bit to low on Low. But i ordered a set of hoya lenses, 128mb mem stick, mem stick case, camera case, battery chargerer, and a USB memory stick uploader thing. Just need to play with the camera to get to know it better. I cant wait till I get those close up lenses (wont be till xmas, the only reason im using the camera now is cause I had to take pics of stuff for ebay, so while its out i snapped a few of the frogs )

I understand what you mean about the flash being to high. The dart in in a brom leaf but a leaf above him was blocking the flashing and ruining the photo, I tried to hold it down a bit (the flash), but it wouldnt engage the flash.

The hoya close-up set is great, just helps get a little closer.

Still experimenting with photoshop. I changed the sharpness, and back ground lighting, and foreground lighting.

Looks good, photoshop can take a long time to learn, and even longer to be very good. I still am working on it, and I don't think I will ever be that great with colors.
