my al is like retarded he dosent move much and if he does he goes under his bark whats wrong
he also dosent move his legs and I picked him up on thursday from a freind thats had him for about 6 months and he emerged his hemipene at me this mornuing and he twiches his tail some times
What is his body weight like? What temps are you keeping him at? Was the friend giving him vitamin supplements? Does he have mites?
Metabolic Bone Disease, MBD, is common in captive alligator lizards that have been improperly supplemented. In affected individuals the jaw will become "rubbery" preventing them from catching and subdueing prey.
Mites can build up to extremely high numbers in captive situations. Look for them behind and inside the ears and behind the legs. Look for crawling "grains of pepper" on the lizard or your hands after handling him.
If you can answer the above, and do a mite check; I can try to give you some treatment advice.
