Breeding Ghost Shrimp

herpfood Nov 07, 2003 05:23 PM

Hello all,
I have a question. Does anyone have experience with breeding ghost shrimp? I have three baby snapping turtles, along with a japanese firebellied newt that would appreciate the facts.

I would be very interested in starting a colony of ghost shrimp. BUt, I"m not sure if its really possible.

The help would be great,
thanks Steven

Sorry, I have never tried breeding them, but depending on the cost and how much you need, it might be easier to just buy them. But if you want to try, here are some caresheets about them. I keep maybe 5 (since they are hard to see amoungst plants and decoration) in my floating frogs tank and they help eat excess fish flakes that my guppies miss. They look like they have grown since I bought them. It might be easier to view them with a barebottom tank. At my lfs, they are 10 for a dollar.
