Heat Pad Help

Insideoutsider13 Nov 07, 2003 06:56 PM

Is it possible to remove a heat pad that has adhesive on the bottom of it and put it on the other side of the tank and still have it stick? The adhesive might not work but would it be possible to use strong black electrical tape to hold it in position or would the pad break on movement? If anyone has any experience with the pad still working after movement, please tell me.

In the manual for my pad it said that by removing it once you have applied the pad will void the warantee. They say this because they claim its possible to damage internal wiring while peeling it off. However, I peeled mine off because like you, I felt the need to reposition it. Despite the warning in the manual the pad works 100% stil. Just be careful and take it slow while you're peeling it off and it should be fine.

I don't recommend removing it. Voiding the warrenty is one thing but should the heating elements be damaged in any way it poses a great fire risk.

I removed one pad which wouldn't stick completely. The part that did stick didn't want to come off easily. I won't be using that pad now. Not worth the risk.

If it's an aquarium it's stuck onto, and it's on the 'wrong' side, why not just spin the aquarium around 180 degrees. Use the back as the front. I'm assuming it's a glass tank, in which case this is the easiest thing to do.
