Care Sheets for keeping Cix?

Jose J. Nov 08, 2003 01:20 AM

For the last few weeks all my cix keep dieing. I been buy 1000 cix at a time every week, and by 5 days they are all dead. I even have a heat light at night on them. They have never seem to have die these fast before I have been trying to figure it out. I live in So.Cal. so it really does not get that cold here. Thank you Joe

I am also in So.Cal. and keep my cricket in a holding cage (more like a large plastic garbage can) without a dramatic loss. Some loss is to be expect with crickets over time. I don't use any heat source on them and keep them in a room that has the window slightly open for air circulation. No room heater or anything else either.

All I can think of is maybe diet (what are you feeding them), enough hiding places, moisture source, anything else being put in their container? Do you know how warm the container is getting? Maybe switch supplier unless others have success keeping crickets from them for prolonged amount of time.

Maybe others can help with ideas too as to why they are not living long.

I agree... Just check for similar things, like the food, and moisture source. They need something moist all the time. I use a mix of veggies for food and moisture and they do good. Also, make sure there's no weird smells in there like something that would irritate them, like bug spray used before or gasoline smell or something. I don't know where you're getting them from, but I've always got good crickets from www.wormman.com. They come without any other bugs that most other places have in them and there's rarely any dead crickets when they get here and to me they're going across the country. Give them a shot.
