Indigo Laws in Alabama

Najakaouthia Nov 08, 2003 02:17 AM

Does anyone know what the laws are in Alabama for Indigos?

I Love indigos and would love to get a few pair but do not want to go through the hassle of the Fish and Game. Most of the time They dont even know the laws.

Thank you for your help in advance
Justin

If you're referring to eastern indigos, you're probably out of luck. Couperi are protected in Alabama and require a Protected Species Permit which are not likely to be issued to a hobbyist.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Of course, a Texas Indigo can be legally kept in Alabama and they're every bit as nice (in my opinion)
Good luck,
Chris

You're on the money...on both counts. Frank
