Can you suggest some organizations that deserve to get donations?

Amanda E Nov 08, 2003 09:07 AM

Posted with permission of kingsnake.com:

I am a board member of a herpetological society that is considering donating some money to organizations who aim to help herps, be it through doing research or conservation efforts. In order to better choose which organizations we should consider, we would like some suggestions from the kingsnake.com community.

If you know of a particular organization that you think is particularly deserving, please post it's name here or email me with the information.

A similar post will be placed in other forums, so please suggest organizations only related to helping out turtles.

Thank you for your help.

The Tewksbury Institute of Herpetology is new and could probably use all of the additional funding they can get. They support turtle conservation and have been in the news a lot lately. They also have quite a few big-named herpetologists associated with them as well. I highly recommend them.

this is a simple project with little funding that has a completely sound plan to solve a very particular problem that will help thousands of turtles each year. It involves few or zero political entanglements and is run by a very competent group. Its rare to run into such a problem with an easy soultion avaialble. I couldn't think of a better way to help turtles in which the results are very tangible.
