I heard of placing tape on eye then pulling it off. You can also use your finger nail too.

would you reccomend paint thinner because you heard someone else did it?
if you are going to respond, try giving viable advice. Not just some crap because you feel compelled to post.
now go ahead and send me another e-mail, stalker!
if you are sure there is still a cap then just simply put the snake in a rubbermaid container with a few holes on the side. ad some warm water(not to hot) let the snake soak in the water for 30 minutes or more. keep him in a warm place while he is soaking. after the soak use a clean dish towel and gently rub. it should come right off. if not soak a little more. as else fails go to the vet.
Just leave it alone. It will come off next time and cause the snake no harm. Tape can injure the eye. You can try soaking the snake but I would leave the eye itself alone. No harm will come from an eyecap left on for a shed.

is this true, i soaked the snake in water and then with a Q-tip i tried to get it off, i got it lose but now it just moves around like a contact but i cannot get it off, should i leave it, did i hurt the snake but doing what i did? what happens next...
make sure its not the eye itself. Leave it alone becuase you clearly dont know what your doing (niether do i, i just leave them alone and it comes off). It will come off when he moves around in the cage eventually. If all else fails within a week, you might have to take it to a vet or wait for the next shed. Increase humidity too, it might slide off.
I have never heard that. I would leave it alone. Chances are it will come off. If not it will come off next shed. Eyes are very delicate if you do not know how to remove it safely you are risking blindness by trying to remove it. I have left an eyecap on it came off before the next shed and the animal ate fine until it came off. Seriously it isn't anything to worry about.

The first time one of my snakes didn't shed an eyecap, I messed it up so badly that an infection set in and blinded the snake in that eye. IOW, it was my bungling that caused the blindness, not the unshed eyecap. Since then I've learned how to get an eyecap off. But I've also sometimes left the unshed eyecap on and never had a problem. It has always came off with the next shed. Hope this helps.

please take some time to perform a search on common shed problems. Your situation is hardly an emergency. In a panic, you might end up doing harm to your reptile and none of us wants that to happen. Just take a deep breath, do some research and enjoy your little bundle of joy.
Good luck!
One last thing. There are some who recommend using tape. This can be very harmful to your snake - especially in the hands of the inexperienced. I do not nor have I ever had to use tape. Do a search on "sweat box". This has NEVER failed me.

you need to make sure that the eyecap was actually not shed and it isn't just a wrinkled eyecap. If you still have the shed go through it until you find the head. Examine it to see if there are 2 caps or not.
I actually thought my female had a retained cap but opted to leave it alone. Out of curiosity I examined the next shed and discovered she was shedding them after all. Some say a wrinkled cap is due to not enough humidity but humidity changes don't seem to affect the wrinkled cap. Perhaps it was an injurt or something when she was younger. She was 2 when I got her.
