Hogg Island Boa Pics Please! more

JLJ2018 Nov 08, 2003 10:36 AM

Not only would I like to see some pics that actually show good colors (ones I've seen online just look like gray snakes), but I'd like it if someone could point me to a quick refresher course in the red-tailed boas. I've been away from the snake world for about 6 years and I've seem to have forgotten most of what I learned! LOL I remember something about BCI and BCC but don't really remember who was what and what was where ya know?

Anyway, a good red-tail has always been my favorite snake. For natural beauty, I don't think they can be beat. They just get a little too big for my place. So, I'm interested in possibly a Hogg Island since they stay 4-6 foot if I can find some decent pics to get a good look at one. Thanks!

Thanks for posting that pic. I love the blue and orange together. Let me know if you ever want to part with one of those!

KNOW YOU KEPT HOGGS TOO. I THOUGHT YOU ONLY HAD PERUVIANS. WELL, WHAT DO I KNOW? THANKS FOR SHARING THE PICS. IN REFERENCE TO THE ABOVE; BOAS GROW TO THEIR INTAKE. YOU CAN KEEP A PERUVIAN OR SURINAME SMALL BY LIMITING THEIR INTAKE. YOU CAN ALSO GROW A HOGG VERY LARGE BY OVER FEEDING.

Here is an older pic of one of my Hog's. Unfortunately her colors did not come out too well. Good luck with finding one of these great snakes.

Thanks guys for all the pics! The forums here are always so helpful. Like I said, it's been 6 or so years since I got out of the snake business, so I had forgotten everything I learned back then.

Either I completely forgot about hoggs or didn't know anything about them to start with back then. I didn't realize they lacked so much dark pigmentation. I got interested in them when I read that they were generally 4-6 feet. My favorite boa back then was just a common, but had an unusual amount of pink to her and a screaming red tail. But unfortunately, a 10 foot snake is out of the question even though they're absolutely my favorite snake in the world.
