"intermontana" pic

sjohn Nov 08, 2003 10:43 AM

Since we had some other emoryi action how about intermontana.
A very very different animal from an isolated population. I would be interested to know how many out there are breeding these guys. Thanks--Scott

Hi, Scott. Good pic. The intermontana are nice snakes, but as mentioned before can be somewhat variable and can look like regular emoryi. Yours looks to have that short stocky form. How old is the snake in the picture? I'm not breeding them at this time. I just have a pair of young ones. Are you going to breed them? TC.

This snake in the photo at the time of the pic was 3 yrs old and it was taken two years ago. She is really not that stocky, it may be from distortion of the photo angle. I have been producing these guys for the last two seasons.

Thanks for the pics. One thing I can see is that the number of blotches on these snakes is a little higher than the southern form (meahllmorum) and similar to the northern form (emoryi). Mine are like that too, except on one the pattern is very faded. Another character we can look at is the length. Since it's an adult, its length would be near max. for your pair. Are they short snakes, like 3 ft., or less? I think mine will be like that. TC.
