Now I know there are snakes around here, all I have to do is look harder.

I thought you and me both didn't have any snakes on our property, guess it's my turn now to open my eyes. I really don't think I have them! I set up some boards and stuff. Maybe it'll help. Where did you find this guy?

I found him in a wooded area under moist roof shingles. I bet you can find these guys in almost any nice moist crevice(sp?) where there are ants and crickets. I did not keep him, They only grow to about 2 ft and its hard to get food for babies. He was only about 6 inches long.

They normally max out at just over a foot. Very nice snake though.

The snakes here for some reason r pretty big (lol) no clue why? Our garters (thats if we ever se any alive are pretty huge.) It was a very nice little guy and I'm sure there are plenty more where I got him, but I wont visit until next month sometime.

The babies aren't that difficult to feed. I started with powdered small crickets and now medium sized powdered mealworms from a pet shop. He sucks those things down like no tomorrow and he has had some good growth. I got it 2 months ago and it went from 6 to 8 inches already. I liked the orange ring and flame belly I'd seen on some dead specimens around my area, so I kept my little guy when I finally found a live one. Another benefit to this snake is it will never get as large as the other snakes in my collection that eat me out of house and home.

6 inches is not a baby though. My adult is about 9 or 10 inches. I would tend to thing the babies are near the size of baby brown snakes...and those things are TINY. We are talking 3...4 inches thought I had some that were about 2. Andy

These little guys are so small and not only do they only eat like little pinheads and small ants but their bodies are very fragile. Very common around here, but I dont bother to keep any at all.

I spent a day at my science teacher's cabin near Pine Grove, PA. Right next to the cabin was a hillside that consisted of dirt and shale that was so loose, it had little air pockets and tunnels. Well, there were tons of ringnecks under the pieces of shale, and the adults were mostly from twelve to a little over sixteen inches. I Kept one for a while, heard they partially constrict prey. I fed it one salamander the day after i got it, it didnt constrict. It just ate like a garter. Then, it escaped that night and hasnt been seen since. i really liked that little guy. He was about twelve inches long, and a pretty little thing. We also found one baby. It was about 2.5 inches long, and was the tiniest thing ever.
