Unique Rainbow, Plz Read

Ball-Pythons.Net Nov 08, 2003 01:56 PM

I was at the local mom and pa pet store today getting my feeders. Being a herper I always check to see whats new. They had some real nice lizards, a sweet BCI, and a few corns. Then I come across a 4 foot, slender snake. Light brown, all the way down. No pattern, nothing but brown. I figured it might be a kind of house snake, so I asked the guy what it was, and he says it is a rainbow boa. By now I'm thinking this guy is an idiot, rainbow boas are colorful and shiny. So I go back and look, the head and body do indeed look like a rainbow boa. I still think it is BS, then I look closely at the head and it has a few traces of rainbow boa pattern.

Now I'm no boa man, I prefer pythons. But I've never seen or heard of them looking like this. It's only 150$ as well. Think I can turn some profit off it? Or is that typically common.

Thanks

This thing is clean as a slate. And I can't pull up any info.

Ball-Pythons.net,
. The snake you saw may have been a patternless Colombian Rainbow Boa but it is much more likely for a petstore to have a normal Colombian Rainbow like the ones in this PIC. As adults these snakes look like they have no pattern most of the time. Sometimes their sides lighten up and the typical Rainbow Boa pattern becomes apparent. The pattern also is much more visible if you take them outdoors into natural sunlight. That price is reasonable for a normal Colombian Rainbow.
