WTF Questions---------NOT the regular ones

opalmeat Nov 08, 2003 02:15 PM

1. What are the effects of hydrogen peroxide on them and how long do they last? Why?

2. Is Red Leg contagios? B/c the germs are supposed to be common in the living areas but only become deadly when the frog is stressed, right?

3. What are the effects of a too much humidity (higher than 55-60)?

4. Why would a frog stay burried all day and night, and not feed?

Hey Opalmeat, I dont really have the time to get to this one now, although I really want to...BUT the calvary is on the way, okay? In the meantime, shoot me an email (the Kingsnake link way) when you get the time and we'll talk a bit more.

There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more.

Okay, I'm up to help with this but am not sure by your questions what exactly is going on with your frog. Hydrogen peroxide is used mostly as a cleaning agent for open wounds while I have seen it indicated to treat some other conditions but I don't have any personal experience with that. Too high humidity for a WTF will mainly cause the visible signs of respiratory difficulties and can cause them to burrow but too low temps and some other illnesses can also cause this. As far as redleg, it's much easier to direct you to my page about it on my website. After you read it, send me a mail and include all the specifics about your frog and it's environment - tank size, tank mates, heat source, light source, temps humidity, hides, how long you've had him, what abnormal things you are seeing, any changes to the environment recently, water type used and frequency changed, feeding regimen - do you gutload, with what, dust, with what, etc, is he in a quiet, low traffic room that is kept dark at night, substrate, tank decor, and anything else you think may be relevant. I can then be much more help to you and will get back to you ASAP. Hope this helps a bit.
