It surprises me, too. About the only dart frog call I've ever come across is Dendrobates leukomelas, and I hear plenty of those first hand, and sure don't need a download of it. I know what my imitators sound like and what the pumilios sound like, because they haven't been shy about calling, even when my face is right in the tank, but have never distinguished the D. auratus nor D. galactonotus calls from refrigerator squeeks, in spite of obvious breeding activities and egg-laying. Maybe this is because most of the calls are rather subtle, at least compared to the leuks. On the other hand, as quietly as my imitators call, there is a distinguishable difference between the call for mating and the calling to the female for feeding the tads. I'd have thought someone with the ability to record calls would have gotten interested enough by now to do this, and publish it.

Hmmm, because you whine so nicely, I will give you a video. Now I am not going to leave this up forever, so better get it while it lasts. Also sorry, you might have to turn up the speakers a bit because I am not going to go in and edit the sound volume right now. Let me know if you have any problems. These guys call all day long... they call if they are mad, they call if they are happy... Why did you say you needed this so bad anyhow? I might have some recordings if its a good enough reason... but then again my closet is a scary place...
