Andean Milksnake won't eat

paingold Nov 08, 2003 09:19 PM

Hello,
I purchased an Andean Milksnake at the Chicago (Tinley Park) Reptile Breeders show in Oct.
As of yet this snake has refused to eat.
I'm keeping him at room temp (65*-70* F). Please don't tell me I need to lizard scent the pinkies

I have kept other species of milks including Mexican, Sinaloan, and Eastern. Except for the Eastern, all have accepted pinkies readily.

Any advice? Thanks

I'd raise those temps. 80F with a hot spot during the day. No lower than 70F at night. If you're anywhere near Chicago I know it is very cold and the snake is trying to hibernate.

Sorry, didn't realize that. Kind of out of my element with these SA milks.

Are you offering live or frozen/thawed? I would try brained f/t pinks before I'd try lizard scented. Has it defecated at all since you purchased it?
