Snakes can be bred at 2 years but its better to give them 3 years before you breed them. breeding them to early can be dangerous for the health of the snake and even cause small clutches to be laid.

The largest record size of a prairie king is 56 inches. most praire kings reach the 32 - 40 inch size range but it just depends on the snake it self. i would nt mind having a pair of them. there is someone who has some for sale on the classifieds but right now I will just stick my california kingsnakes and western hognoses.

Thanks, I have an albino male and het for albino female. I think I will wait another year before I try. They are both right around 24 inches and roughly about as thick as my thumb. I'd rather wait a year and do it right.

I figure out the general maximum size for the species (not the freak records, but the generally accepted max). For calligaster, that number would be somewhere around 40 inches, so I would only breed females that are around 27 inches. Males can be slightly smaller. I suspect a 20 inch male would be ready to breed.
