stjpball Nov 09, 2003 09:27 AM

Hey wahts going on guys havn't posted in a lil while so i figured id ask ym new dilema. Is ti possible for a male to be to aggresive to breed? i guess thats the onyl way to state the question. I put my Adrian my female in with rocky my older male they are both arouund the same size now adn Adrian is 12 months of age.

Anyhow when i put them together 15 seconds after she was in his Vivarim Rocky pounced on ehr and bit her back left foot. She excreted somthing form her Vent that went on the mesh of the cage it seemed clear and rocky licked it up. 1 minute latter Rocky ran to her bit her side she turned around and bit hsi face, this happend all night so i serpearated them this morning, Do you believe he is to aggresive and will nto be able to be a breeder, what do you guys think?

I'm not a breeder...yet. But here's some things I'd try: Remove Rocky from his cage and put him in a temporary cage for a while. Rework the old cage...different furnishings/substrate...rearrangements so it will seem like a new cage. Get another female. After a few weeks, put all three in the cage at the same time. This way, Rocky won't have time to develop territorial behaviors and may accept his cage mates better. Sometimes in a territorial reptile, if there is more than one other creature in the cage with him, he'll mellow out because he realizes that he can't be totally dominant over 2 females at once...it's just too much work for a cold blooded reptile. One other occupant is easy to ride all the time. Good luck.
