Different sand, same packaging...impaction???

I just bought some play sand, it's in the exact same packaging as the sand I got a few weeks ago, but it's not as fine, there's little tiny black and shiny things in it, is this sand not fine enough? I'm just worried about impaction. And why would the people who make the sand, produce 2 completely different size sands?
