NEW cage idea...turned out kinda long

chikimonke Nov 09, 2003 03:27 PM

Ok, everyone has talked about making a "natural" looking cage setup. I was wondering if any has thought of, or actually created the exact opposite. I figure as long as the cage still contains the essentials, hides and food dish and things of the sort, the Leo wouldn't know the difference, esspecially with most being captive bred.

One idea that I just came up with was to create a completely custom tank, and make a replica Fenway Park (Red Sox fan all the way). It would have the Green Monster and all. For the hides, i would put them inside the "garage doors" in the outfield that go under the stands. the stands would also act as something for Jak to climb on. I would even add a Citgo. Tell me what you think, and what other ideas you may have. OR if you have actaully done something as crazy as this, post pics.

Now why would i think of making such a custom cage? Probablly because I'm big into computers and live all the "mods" people have done to their cases. I figured I could bring some of that into the world of herps. Break the mold a little. OK, this got long, I'll let you all post now.

Not a bad idea. Actually, you can design their cages to match your personality, as long as the stuff in the cage are all proved to be safe for leos (lacking chemicals, sharp objects, etc). Also, if you're really going to do it, try not to make the cage so crowded, or else leo will have difficult time moving around.

Hey,
Why dont you use a corner tank that has a bow front like a baseball field ? That way you already have the basic outline of the field !

Good idea, however, Fenway is one of those "unique" parks, and really doesn't lend itself to that shape, BUT, maybe I could work something out with it. Would be less work for me =)

How about an underwater atlantis, or newyork skyline. Imagine a gecko the size of a jet plane climbing the empire state building.

would be awesome. Get white ceramic tile and paint the lines on the ice, and then build the backs and sides up like the seats in a stadium. And use the upper level of seats as the top for hiding places. MAN! I want to do this now... But i think I'll need a bigger tank to make this happen...

Imagine an ice rink with the zamboni gate open, use that area for a humid hide... Geez, this could be awesome. Or maybe make little hides that look like hockey nets on each end. Woah!

The visitor's penalty box for a feeding dish?? Man...
