Repti-bark?

I was thinking about putting bark in my cage but i am wondering what would be the best wat to feed my snake with out her getting it in her mouth?I am feeding her f/t mice and was wonering if i could set it on a paper plate so she wouldnt get bark in her mouth. Thanks Steve

That would minimise the risk of getting the substrate in the mouth of the snake excpet for the fact that snakes are not neat and tidy eaters. Rarely do my snakes completly consume their meal in the same place that they sart. They usually pull it all over the cage during the process. If you are determined to use bark as your substrate then I would suggest using newspaper to cover a large portion of the cage during feedings and then once dinner is over then remove the newspaper. that will work better than trying to use a paper plate.
