You could do it, but like Terry and I had mentioned earlier, for at least nutrition reasons, rodents would be a better choice.

frozen and thawing is that freezing will kill off alot of the parasites, etc. Del and I feed our snakes baby chicks about once a month. We have baby chicks being delivered next week. Both the pituophis and rat snakes readily eat them. We've been doing this several years now and chicks seem to put the weight back on our females. Chicks would not be a good staple food for your snakes, but I haven't seen anything wrong with feeding them every now and then. I will mention though that beaks and talons are not digested very well alot of times so you will see them when they deficate. Good luck

Chicks are a great "treat" for rats and Pits. If you have a local source of live chicks, such as a hatchery, then buy them there and freeze them yourself.

I know of few parasites that live chicks carry that would infest snakes. Most parasites are species specific. Salmonella MIGHT be a factor if you feed live chicks, but if fed fozen thawed that should eliminate the possibility.

Now, to rile the frozen chick suppliers. I've priced frozen chicks. Not a abd price. However, the shipping costs are a factor. Solution: buy 100 live chicks at a slighty higher "per chick" price and have them shipped to you for about $20.

Feed those chicks live or frozen/thawed.
