New to corns

Khalliaar Nov 09, 2003 06:11 PM

I'm new to corns though I do have a ball python already. I have researched corns some and was just wondering if it would be alright to keep 2 corns, preferable a male and female, in the same tank? I would be getting them as a baby. If it would be alright what dimensions should the cage be for the 2? Thanks a lot.

It is always best to keep them in their own cages for a number of reasons. In other words...if you want optimum conditions, one snake per cage is the way to go. That said...It is possible that you could keep two in a cage and they would be OK. Lots of folks do it, and some do just fine. It's not your best bet, but you might be OK. Good luck with your new corn(s) whatever route you take. Duffy

I wouldn't keep a male/female pair in the same cage. They can have problems with breeding when the female is too small to safely carry the eggs. Even corns less than a year old have bred 'accidentally'. They can breed without any action on your part (brumation, etc., isn't needed).

Thanks a lot. I think that I'm going to get 2 corns and put a divider in one bigger cage.
