Tonge, Color Change

gia_newman Nov 09, 2003 06:57 PM

I have owned my 1 year old leaf tail for about a month now and I notice the other day that the tip of his tongue is a dark grey color. I don't seem to recall it appearing this way before but I honestly cannot remember. I have also been looking at other pictures on the net of leaf tails and have not seen any with this coloration. Would anyone happen to know what may be the cause of this, or if it is normal?

i have 2 henkels and both of their tongues are like this. i think it is normal.. and hope. but i'm sure some one of the more experienced Uro owners can point you in the right direction. -- i also had a question about the tongue color. i have a friend with a pair of lined uros and both of his have black mouths, i know i've seen people mention this in sikore's but in no other species. are all the lineds like this or is it the same deal as the sikores with two different types? anybody have any input? -Thanks

You´re right, the Lineatus has an black mouth just like the uroplatus sikorae sikorae. The U.sikorae sameiti has an pink inside of its mouth. About the toung thats normal, i have seen it with all my U.henkelis.
