blackheart17 Nov 09, 2003 07:47 PM

i got my first b.d. about 2 weeks ago and he doesn't seem to be eating much. He is only about 2 months old??? He'll eat 2-3 small crickets a day and maybe one worm. he used to enjoy eating carrots, but not anymore. What can i do to get him to get b/c he's so young???

Well, what are your temps? For a baby that young, the basking spot should be from 110-115 degrees, with the cool side around 85. If its too cold, they cant digest their food properly, thus they won't eat. Do you also have a UVB light (long, skinny flourescent tube)? How big the tank you have him in? A little more info about your setup will help us try and figure out whats wrong with him

well i have a 20gallon-high tank. In a few months i plan to switch to a bigger one but for now he's little. I have a UV and Heat bulb about 1 inch from the top of his cage. I have a climbing thing for him that reaches almost the top of the cage. That gets about 100*. The bottom of the tank is kept around 70*, i know it's a little cool but i don't now how to get it warmer. anyway - no i haven't taken him to the vet b/c the closest one around here is 2 hours away, and i think that's kinda far. please help... let me know if you need more info. thanks!!!
