Active UV Heat Bulb

RaffertyReptiles Nov 09, 2003 08:17 PM

I don't know if how strongly i believe that these bulbs work but they are good basking bulbs. Any way i use a seperate UV bulb reptisun 5.0 but my normal basking bulb broke so i figured i would try one of these mercury vapor bulbs and i have two questions one is if i am using one of these mercury vapor bulbs and the reptisun 5.0 could that be harmful or is it just the more UV the better? and also what wattage should i get for a 40 gallon breeder in this catolog they have 100 watt flood, 160 watt flood and 100 watt spot and 160 watt spot? any advice i would appreciate.
thanks

I would use the 100watt flood. I use that one for my 75gal tank, but have to have a basking rock about halfway up the side of the tank to keep a temp of about 95. I just started using these for my bearded dragons, but I have used them for about a year with my frillys.
