Black rat snake for Hotshot . . .>

terryp Nov 09, 2003 09:37 PM

Hi Brian -
I mentioned I would post a pic of my Guthrie, Kentucky black rat snake. Dwight Good sent me a pair of these. They are offspring from a gravid female that was collected in Guthrie. She will never be all black, but she is starting to really get dark.

Terry,

Nice looking Black rat! She is quite a bit darker than mine. Im beginning to think mine may have grey rat influence. I have seen quite a few black rats this summer, and all were pretty close to what your girl looks like. Didnt see any that were quite as light as mine. His tail has turned dark, but the rest of his body is pretty light and his head is grey.

He is getting pretty big, longer than my '00 corn and cathing up on girth pretty quick. I would venture to say he is pretty close to 5'.

Im going to post a pic of my albino black rat that I got from Dwight last year. He just shed this morning and is looking bettr with every shed!! Gets darker orange! Just kick@ss!

Several people including myself didn't realize how much the obsoleta change from babies to adults. It's great that people like yourself keep us updated with pics of your snakes that show the changes they go through. It also shows that some go through a bigger change than others. Can't wait to see the updated pic of your albino black rat snake Brian.
