Anybody ever use EXO TERRA WATERFALL???

JadeFox Nov 09, 2003 09:53 PM

I bought an Exo Terra waterfall and repti flo 250 pump, and it has been sitting on my desk for the most part because the sound is relaxing

I was thinking of putting in my tree frog's terrarium. The plastic kind of smells (like plastic), and I am wondering if anybody has had any problems with it. In other words, what is your evaluation of EXO Terra's waterfall??

Thanks!

I've been using one with my veiled chameleon for almost a year now. The exo-terra waterfalls are much better than ones that were made by other companies in the past. The material that they're made of doesn't fall apart like the foam ones made by Zoo-med. The Reptiflow pump also holds up better than other ones I've used in the past. When it is used in a cage it needs to be cleaned at least every other day just like a water bowl would. Crickets seem to love to hide inside of it only to fall to their deaths in the water hours later which is one down side of it. Besides that it does a pretty good job and if you're willing to spend the extra 5 minutes a day cleaning it I'd say go for it.

I have used one for half a year or so. The plastic smell made me nervous, but after letting it air out for awhile I put it in with my Whites tree frogs. I had problems with it running dry quite quickly after awhile. I think it may have been leaking, but I am not sure. Instead of using it in my new Whites vivarium, I put it in with some semi-aquatic rice paddy frogs I have. Now it doesn’t make a difference if it leaks.

I have never used this particular one but I have used the zoo-med version and after comparing both it looks like they have a similar design. When I used one it seemed that the crickets would always get stuck in the resevoir area and then fall into the water causing to have to change the water kind of often. Also sometimes (used it with house gex and green anoles) they seemed sometimes get stuck in the resevoir and even once one drowned so dont use it with some animals.
