Kyle_Gecko Nov 09, 2003 10:19 PM

At a show i went to this weekend i seen quite a bit of crested geckos and am thinking about getting one or a pair, that i might end up breeding.

1. First off i was wondering what would be a good breeder to get them from, also does anyone know of any in michigan. websites would be nice

2. mealworms or crickets? i also know fruit baby food is part of the diet.

3. what size tank would be good for a breeding pair? i have a 15g high would that work for 2 or should i get a 30.

4. what is ideal temps?

Thanks for help

Hello

I am new with cresteds too. and i live in michigan as well, and went to troy and taylor last weekend I got my little crested from taylor in september. I know it doesn't help much, but the breeder I got him from was named Rob, and I got it for real cheap. Its a gorgeous little flame phase who is doing excellent. he also breeds cornsnakes and leopard geckos. I have his phone number if you want to email me, I could give it to you. I've seen him at quite a few shows. I dont know his website though, sorry but i know he is located around lansing because of his area code.

I feed mine just crickets for now. He wont even touch mealworms. I also give him peach babyfood mixed with Crested Gecko Diet, which he eats, but not very much of. When they are young you want them to get a lot of protein. I think as they get older, they will eat more fruits than insects.

As for the size, i'm not sure about the 15gallon. I have read that breeding pairs should be kept in 20 gallons, but maybe someone else can help you decide if a 15 is ok.

Good luck!
