Snow Corn! soooo beautiful

ElusiveKimmaby Nov 09, 2003 10:24 PM

I love this new snake I got! She's so friendly and very beautiful. I need to name her, but there's one other thing that determines her name... her sex! Is there any way to make an educated guess WITHOUT probing? The petstore folks kept referring to "her" as their "baby" and "she's a sweetie" and "she's our baby" and so I assume it's a girl, but I want to be sure or at least be able to see with my own eyes where they drew their conclusions from. Or maybe they bought her that way and it was on a form! Who knows. Either way, any suggestions?

If s/he is old enough you can just look at the tail. Males have longer more tappering tails and females have shorter tails. The tail by the way, begins at the vent on the under side of the snake. This isn't a 100% way to tell Male Female but it'll have to do till you can find someone experianced to probe "it".

Then there's also the scale counting method. Do a search of the archives here for the details.
