Hello all,
I know hanging out with all of you will help me get educated about Indigos but I'm hoping to find a book that describes the various aspects of this fascinating snake.
Thanks!
Doug

The only book I know of covering indies somewhat thoroughly in captivity is "Indigos, Racers, and Whipsnakes" or something of the like by my old bud. W.P. Mara. It was published in '95 by TFH. I'm at work or I would get the exact title for ya.
I just like looking at all the cb baby dry's in his book. I didn't realize corais and rubidus were produced in the 90's in decent numbers. I guess it shows you that there are many more snakers out there than you would think that aren't on the net.

The book AC was refering to was RACERS, WHIPSNAKES,AND INDIGOS by W.P. Mara RE-142 T.F.H. publications (1995)

..and I have to say I was a little disappointed. There is a wealth of information on Coluber sp. and Masticophis sp, but very little specific information on the different Drymarchon. Mostly just a few pictures. However, it was not a big investment (I think maybe $10.00) so I wasn't too upset. Some of the pictures are pretty good....
Doug,
There is scant little information actually written and published about Eastern Indigo snakes, much less other Drymarchon.
Dean Allessandri had an article on Eastern Indigos published in Reptiles Magazine a short while back, and I ( Fredrick Albury ) had an article published in Reptile & Amphibian Magazine a little while ago myself. Basically, all the really GOOD information on DRYMARCHON is either contained in those two articles, or ONLINE. If you go to www.inigosnakes.com,you will find my webpage with information on Eastern Indigos, as well as Doug Taylors EXCELLENT page on Easterns also. I believe that there are others pages there also. It is the BEST source for updated and pertinent information on DRYMARCHON, and has a multitude of breeders and keepers there that have a wealth of knowledge. So....no book available, we all wish there was one, but lots of info and people to network with that can answer your questions....
Hope this helps.
*Ciao*

Thanks, guys, for the great information!
I happen to run across a resource on Amazon.com entitled "Species Profile: Eastern Indigo Snake (Drymarchon colars couperie) on Military ..."
Have either of you reviewed this? Is it worth the $18 bucks?
Thanks!!
Doug
Doug,
I have seen it, and wasnt overly impressed by it. as studies go, Deans article is a LOT more informative. Save the $18 bucks, buy a large pizza with anchovies and a liter of coca cola
Take care,
Fred albury
If it's the same one I'm thinking of it's available online. All you need in Acrobat reader.
