Moving help?

WendigoWolf Nov 10, 2003 01:06 AM

I need some advice on how to move a snake to a new house. I'll be moving sometime this month and the new area is about 3 hours from where I am now. I would like to know the best way to keep my ball python warm and unstressed? I really do not want to part with him.. he is my baby boy afterall

1) If your car was made in the 20th century, it has a heater in it.

2) Water bottles are notoriously known to hold hot water. And for some reason (physics/chemistry) that hot water gives off heat for a long period of time.

Believe it.

You might want to put it in a bag to keep it calm. A pillowcase works well.

If you're concerned about temperature fluctuations use a small cooler for transportation. You could also put some sort of heat source (like a hot water bottle) in the cooler.

Everything should be fine for a three hour trip.

Definately put it in a secure cloth bag. If you use the hot water bottle idea, wrap a towel around the bottle so the snake isn't in direct contact with the heated bottle. There is also a heating product that you can microwave and it retains heat, unfortunately I dont know the exact length of time it will hold the heat. It's just a plastic disc. They probably sell them at the larger pet stores. Hope this helps.

Well thanks to those who provided help. I really appreciate the advice on this. I had things in mind and I just wanted to make sure I am gonna do them right. So far it seems my baby will do fine during the trip. Thank again
