In about 10 or 11 weeks, I'm leaving to study abroad in Beijing. I'll be there for approximately 4 months.
So, that means my mom will be taking on full responsibility of my leopard geckos. She's not a herper, but my herper-ness has kind of rubbed off on her. She has a general idea of what I do for my geckos. I plan to train her, make a list of what to do, and give her a few phone numbers. However, I'd love it if some of you gave me your e-mail addresses so she can have people to contact in case she runs into any problems. You don't have to be an expert, just as long as you know how to look up an answer to anything you don't know. She's not fluent with English, so you'll need to be patient with her. If you don't mind volunteering, my e-mail address is livia@sound.net">olivia@sound.net.
I want to make everything as easy as possible for her. This includes stocking up on gutload, supplements, extra supplies, and a spare tank set-up or two, so she won't have to worry about having to buy anything. I'll probably stock up on extra UTHs in case one of mine malfunctions, and I will try to get everything hooked up to a surge protector.
I expect to have four adults, one sub-adult, and three juveniles by the time I leave. All of them already know how to eat from a bowl (except for the third juvenile because she hasn't hatched yet
). I've got the beginnings of a mealworm colony right now, but I may ditch that for something more low maintenance. I don't want her to have to deal with aliens and beetles, so I was thinking about going with small superworms. Maybe she could just order them a few times while I'm gone? But if worse comes to worst, my dad could always just go buy some from the petstore.
As much as I'm planning ahead, I need your input because there might be something I haven't thought about yet. Let me know if there's anything that you can think of.
