Okeetee? Normal? Or what

krawf4 Nov 10, 2003 03:14 PM

I have had this snake for over a month now and i have been refering tro it as an okeetee but i am still not 100% sure what it is. It doesnt look like other okeetee hatchlings that i have seen and had yet its colors, which the picture doesnt do anything for them, dont seem like they would belong on a normal. Either way i will be happy i just dont want to mislead someone when i sell it.

what a beauty!

I bet its awesome in person! Are you selling it? Will you be at NARBC with it? If so, I will keep an eye out for it!

Okeetee, depending on HOW you use the term can either refer to the lineage traced back to Okeetee hunt club (in which case you'll need to know the parents origin).

OR

it could mean the color phase, which is a bit more subjective BUT you won't know for sure until a few more months.

Whatever it is, the black borders appear to be coming in rather thick, which should turn out nice!

Have you seen the parents?

GOOD LUCK with it! I'd say keep it (unless ya wanna sell it to me...LOL)

Is it a male or a female (just curious)?

Also, sounds like you classify okee's based on their coloration, which I tend to think most people do. I personally don't care about locality too much, especially since a large percentage of the South Carolina okeetees I have seen were below average in coloration (IMHO).

This is one of my own hatchlings and i got it from an anery and the father was an amel. I will not be at the NARBC however. As for whether it is a male of female i am not sure. I am still kind of undecided on whether or not i should sell it.
