swallowing rocks...not so good?

TwinkL1369 Nov 10, 2003 03:17 PM

I have a large tiger salamander who swallowed a rock this weekend during a feed. I fought with him over it, but he won. he still gets excited when i walk by because he thinks i'm going to give him more food. How long should I wait to see if it passes before I get worried? Based on the size of his, umm, excrement, I think its small enough to pass. Any advice would be great. thanks.

Not so good - hope it survives. Advice? Don't give it rocks to swallow - use a soft substrate in which the animal can dig:
