aft parasites

hepcatmoe Nov 10, 2003 03:38 PM

i think my african fat tail has parasites. the only simptom is runny stool. she has been eating normally. but i am thinking about getting another one so i wanna make sure she is healthy before i do that. anyways how can i cure her? right now i have her moved into a temp cage with papertowel substrate and one hide box. i figure this way i can keep an eye on her. i know the vet should be my first choice but i would rather do that as a last resort cause i am broke. what medicine should i use for her? where can i get it? and how much does it cost? any help or ideas are appreciated. thanks in advance. also if you are a pro can you give me tips on admininstering it? thanks again.

The best option for your AFT is to have a vet check a fecal sample... different parasites require different treatments... many vets would agree to just check the sample without actually seeing the reptile (this should be relatively inexpensive)...Then if necessary they may ask to see the animal if treatment is required.... Rather than spend money on a new AFT, you could ensure the health of the one you have already

Best wishes,
Pauline
