Male or Female Veiled?

johnie Nov 10, 2003 03:49 PM

Hello all -
I have 3 veiled chameleons. One is clearly a male, one is clearly a female, and I am undecided on the one shown. What do you think? Male or female?

Thanks for your comments.

males have a tarsal spur, females do not. go here and click on MALE in sexing paragraph for a photo. My inexperienced guess is a female b/c she looks very much like my little Luna

looks like a male to me. You can see slight patterns which matched roans when he was younger.

Theres a spur, and light patterns that resemble those of males...

...my very inexperienced opinion! Can you see the spur in the photo? My untrained eye can't. As for color/markings, Luna has similar patterns what ones do you use to identify? Just curious...

There is a spur, the picture is very large, but go to the hind leg... One should be able to see it... And the stripes go all the way back to the tail, which I have seen in every male veiled. I am very inexperienced too, so no worries!!!
