Is sand something good for them to dig in to lay their eggs?

If your talking about a chameleon I use a mixture of chemical free potting soil and vermiculite. You can use sand but I'd recomend you mix it with potting soil. Keep in mind I use the above for my female panther chameleons so if you have a different species I'd get a 2nd oppion.

for my veiled chams. You have to get it moist, but not too wet. It's kind of a personal preferance on what to use. Whatever you use, make sure that it's compact and moist enough so it won't cave in on your cham when she starts digging.

Sand is fine. You don't have to do anything special just keep it moist so it will hold a tunnel. If you want the simple easy way that's it. You don't have to ad soil, vermiculate, perilite, etc; Just good ol sand...
