lots o mali questions

hepcatmoe Nov 10, 2003 05:11 PM

my mother, knowing i love lizards, bought me a mali uromastyx about a year ago. so far the little fella seems to be doing alright. however i have noticed litte critters moving around in its feces. pretty disgusting. i was wondering is that normal? he eats fine and is pretty active. but i am planning on a vet trip here soon for my aft and i am probly just gonna take spike (the mali) in with me. so i guess the real question is can i house these guys in groups? thats is can i have more than one uro in the cage? are they agressive towards each other? does it matter if i have 2 males or 1 male and 1 female? do you guys think if i posted pics of spike you could sex him/her for me online? and how much room would i need if i had 2 mali uros? well thats it thanks.

its usually not a good idea to house 2 males of any reptile with each other.you can house a male and female as long as you dont notice any fighting between them.cage requirements are usually twice the lenths and width of the animal.so to have 2 mali's i wouldnt do smaller than 3x3x2 and make sure each malihas his/her own hide area and food dish.a seperate basking spot may be needed but it may not for each animal.im not sure about the feces but someone else may help out with that...good luck
