Hi Duane-

The substrate that I use in my enclosure is actually fabric. I got it at Walmart. It was so cheap. They were having a big sale and it was dirt cheap so I picked up what I needed.

Its soft on one side and on the other side its not soft. I just cut it to the size that I needed it to fit inside my enclosure.

Those enclosure, hold most of my pet geckos. Some of them hold a few of my breeders though. The rest of my geckos I will be putting in a rack system when it gets built this winter.

As for cleaning, make sure its stays clean. Put a piece of paper towel down where they go poop, put paper towel down where you keep the calicum dish and mealworm dish. When I go to clean it, I put it in the washing machine and then I just put down paper towels until the next time I do another cleaning then I will put the fabric back in.

Check out walmart and see what they have, but dont get anything that will fray. If you do, you'll have to sew up the edges so it doesn't fray.

Good Luck
Let me know if you find something!

Duane-

No actually I cant remember the name of the stuff I bought, I got it last year. Sorry

I was it once a week, but like I said keep paper towel squares in the bathroom area, the calcium dish area and also the mealworm dish area. The paper towels are there to clean up any mess and to help it stay cleaner.

When its in the wash I just put paper towel and the next time I do another cage cleaning I throw the paper towels away and then put the clean fabric in.

Repti-carpet is fine to use, but I think its much rougher actually. The stuff I have is very soft.
