I'm so very very sad....

Reference to Geckos near the bottom................

Saturday morning my grandmother was taken to hospital after suffering a diabetic reaction. That evening she was awake and alert, telling us she was going to be Ok, and that she would be home to finish her Christmas cakes soon. We went home feeling optimistic that she would be fine. Between 4-5am we got a call from the hospital...we spent the next 12 hours at the hospital watching her slowly slip away. She passed around 4:45pm Sunday.

My family is devestated, my father an absolute wreck.

The one thing thats kept us focused is her dog. He keeps a vigilant watch at the front door but has a look in his eyes as if he knows shes not coming home. It was him that alerted us to her having trouble in the first place.......animals know. My geckos have helped me to push through the tears. I have to keep up the care for them and it has really helped.

My grandmother was the stitching that held my family together, now we have only eachother. Every minute is so precious and i now believe my time is best spent with my family. I will be spending very little time online from now on so i want to wish you all the best. I will stop by now and then to post a pic or two but nothing more.

Any reponses to this is asked to be made to me directly as i won't be checking the forum.

Thanks
Red

I know you said you might not check this, but just in case you happen to stop by to glance at the forum - i just wanted to express my condolences. my grandmother passed away on new years eve, the day before her wedding anniversary. i know it'll hurt, but time will heal you slowly. my grandmother also held my dad's side of the family together because we're spread out all over the world and the country... but anything that had to do with her, we were always together. my cousins and i also discussed that during the wake and the funeral.

At the time, I didn't have a gecko- I just had my dog. But the love you feel for your animals and the love you believe is directed to you from them will not replace the loss of your beloved grandmother. But her spirit and your memories of her will live on.

Again, my condolences to you and your family~

I'm so sorry to hear about your dear grandmother. A passionate family member passing away is just heartbreaking. But at least you've had pets, because like what everyone says, life is better with animals. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear this, but I still would suggest you to drop by frequently. Hearing our advices or what we say about leos can cheer you up a bit. Good luck.
