male territory/urination?

reptilian9 Nov 10, 2003 10:06 PM

My blue is getting big quick. He's always seemed to be a male, just by how much he eats and how active he is - just seems like a male to me. I've noticed before that sometimes he'll urinate a little on his substrate or on a rock or something - much different than the usual DUMP of everything when he goes. My question is: do males typically mark their scent like other animals do? It seems like he does it when he's content (like after a meal or before going in for the night). Now that he lets me handle him, it could be a problem, because today he peed a little on my pants when he was in my lap. He wasn't trying to escape or being defensive at all, I know what that's like. He was calm and just sitting in my lap, and then I saw a little wet trail. At least maybe he was "marking me as his territory" or something. Any ideas?

It's not only a male trait to mark territory, my female does it all the time as well. Cool pic by the way.

Thanks. Does yours do it all the time on you? You have nice pics too.

No, she doesn't urinate on me at all. She usually gets realy squirmy if she has to go and will walk away from me and thankfully do it somewhere other than my lap...though the couch isn't much better I'm pretty sure it does have to do with marking territory because she does it whenever I let her out of the cage and whenever she goes to new places. Wish there was a way to make them stop.
