Best personality, hands down....

These guys have all the qualities to become the next bearded dragon, or leopard gecko. I can't get enough of their behaviors, quirks, and activeness. Not to mention their beauty. Who's with me, when I say that ackies make the best "pets" of all varanids??? They're well rounded, and deserve a perfect 10 in my book...

I would like to see what you use

Hey there,

Here's a pic of some of my enclosures. The trough-type setups that you see house acanthurus, tristis, and glauerti. I constructed them out of melamine, for melamine's ability to be water repellant, and can withstand exposure to moisture, unlike plywood. My ackies' trough is filled about sixteen inches or so with soil; I am still experimenting with different soils, but the foot or so of soil is to encourage natural diggin/burrowing behavior. They seem to love it. The insides contain plywood stacks, branches, nesting box, and water dish. They have several hide spots- a hot dry spot, hot moist, cool dry, and cool moist. This allows them to choose whichever situation they desire. I hope this helps, let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Thanks for the post..

Send me a female ackies, and 1.1 Glauerti. That'd make my day, and I could study them.. I do have a biology degree I'd love to use.

Great looking critters, and thanks for sharing your enclosures.

And expensive ones too. My wife has drawn the line. "you don't need anymore animals." Oh well, funny thing is I picked up a new snake a few days ago

Well good luck with your critters, they look good on digital film
