Whites Tree Frogs Issues....

luvbulis8 Nov 10, 2003 11:51 PM

I'm new to the Whites Tree Frog ownership and I have a larger Dumpy that is in trouble I believe. I have two of them in a 10 gallon tank and the larger one has a front foot that only has three toes. The toes that he has are damaged. I just noticed the other day that he has foot problems. I didn't know if foot problems were common in tree frogs or if there was something I could do to help him with his bum foot. I just don't know enough to help him. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help my little guy! Thanks!
Sincerely,
Maria C.

10 gallon for 2 adult WTF's!!!! thats way to small!!! 20gall is min for one, and 30gall is min for 2, you really should have done your research.

as for the foot, when did you buy him/her?? the toes that are missing, are they bleeding? or is fully heeled up?? the toes would have probably been the cause of some physical injury, eg: foot trapped in enclosure lid etc. just out of curiosity what are the specs of your tank, eg: lighting, tank decor, water source, humidity, temps etc. check my site for info on keeping WTF's,

A 10-gallon is much, much too small for two White's. You're going to need a 30-gallon, but I'd separate the two for now, so leave the larger one in the 10-gallon until it sees a vet. Two toes missing is probably from an injury, but if the other toes look messed up for some reason, I'd still worry that it could be a contageous pathogen, although a vet will tell you immediately.

Good luck and please hurry up and get the frogs into an appropriate enclosure. Let us know what happens!
