Hey,

I have a question (and i'm really not being sarcastic). Are red tails really kinda rare? Or is it more that the True red tails are rare? because i liked their colors and shape and such, i just thought alot of people had them, and wasn't really wanting something as common as a royal, because I work at a pet store, so i have to tell everyone that comes in how to better take care of a ball. (no offence to the ball python owners, i'm only saying some people who get these snake and don't know anything about them, i might end up having one because i do like the snake aswell) Are they pretty well tempered? Also, what is their general lenght? are there any they don't get 15 feet long, because i can't take care of a snake THAT large.

really understand that i'm not fully educated about boa's and pythons, but i do have the ability to take care of them. and i have read care sheet and such, i just havn't gotten enough input from actual owners.

thanx.

BCI's are very common.

These are more rare and expensive. These animals tend to be harder to breed and there just aren't as many out there.

because i liked their colors and shape and such, i just thought alot of people had them, and wasn't really wanting something as common as a royal, because I work at a pet store, so i have to tell everyone that comes in how to better take care of a ball. There really is a reason why some animal are so popular. (Or, common.) Popular animals tend to be easier to care for, have an overall look that is deemed attractive, not too expensive, and have a generally tractible attitude. If someone wants a good animal. They really can never go wrong with a ball or a BCI.

There are other interesting animals out there. Bloods, Carpets, rat snakes, rainbow boas, etc. Generally, these animals take more experience and are less forgiving. I have owned some. I think of these animals as more of a challenge. They are neat animals to have and learn from. They are also a little exciting since they are not so common. But, I guess it really depends on what you are looking for in a pet. If I were looking for an animal that I could enjoy, not have to work too hard with, and had a great personality........It would be a boa or a ball.

That and........With all the colors and patterns.........These animals are not so common. Even if you were to get the most oridanry looking ball or boa. Give it 5-6 years.....You will have one neat looking adult on your hands. I LOVE the way BCI's look when they are mature and big.

Again, I have had many types of snakes. I have scaled everything back to just BCI's. Someday I will get a ball and a burm again.
Hope this helps.
I didn't get into BCC's too much because I have never owned one. But, I would sure love to.
John

Besides, to 90% of the population, ANY snake is rare and exotic. And you're the one who has to live with it, so you should pick something you like, and not worry about how many other people have one or who's going to be impressed by it.

Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
