I am wondering if anyone has a picture of a Hybrid between a Southern Copperhead and a Eastern Cottonmouth?
I know that this has been done before and I am interested in getting some offspring but have never seen any.
Thank you for your time

.
I bred a male Southern Copperhead with a female Florida Cottonmouth and got 7 babies this year. Here is a pic of one of the offspring. More pics are on my site.

Awesome looking snake Mardi! I can't say that I'm much into hybrids, but I've been wanting to see what one of these would look like, just for curiosity's sake. It's like a copperhead with attitude, lol. Seriously, something about the cotton-ish face on the mostly copperhead body seems to make it look a bit more intimidating. Have you noticed anything about their venom potency (whether it seems to lean toward copper, cotton, or is it variable with each baby)?
Also, have you noticed anything interesting about their temperaments and habits, such as are any a little more aggressive, do any gape like a cottonmouth, do any spend lots of time in the waterbowl, etc? Like I said, I don't care a whole lot about hybrids, but I just find this to be interesting, crossing two snakes that are obviously close genetically but that lead such different lives. I look forward to your reply.

So far the Cottonheads have been much more spirited than any of my baby Copperheads or Cottonmouths. They don't strike at anything that moves, but if you get too close they launch themselves at you. In fact their whole body leaves the ground when they strike. When I was taking pictures of the the snake I posted here it launched itself and landed on the lens of my camera
I hate it when they do that! As far as the venom goes I don't really know. I usually feed prekilled but the live hoppers I fed them were dead instantly after the strike. This may be more indicative of good fang placement rather than venom potency. I have not noticed them spending an inordinate time in their waterbowls either. Here is another pic of the body looking down on the snake.

Hey Mardi,
electricity in these parts is very unreliable, and I can only access the net on occasion. I will post some pics upon my return.
