These things breed like rabbits....slightly OT...

These guys were one of my experiments this year. I'm keeping 1.3 together in one 4' vision Arboreal cage. Trying to see if they can be kept in a group situation. Things seem to be working pretty well so far. After a bit of cooling, the male (Christmas Tree) first got the yellow female (next pic) Then after a month of working her, he moved to the calico red female. Then, sure enough, one month later he started on the red, orange female. I believe they are all gravid now. If they all do drop, they should all come about a month apart. Kinda neat but if there are 3 litters I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all the bitey little worms. Still not sure about how to remove them either. I guess I'll have to get the gloves & leather jacket out. hehe

Talk about darkening up when gravid. These guys change more than anything I've ever seen.

That's excellent! Should be about a zillion color and pattern combos between those 3 litters. Can't wait to see some pics. Tom

but you started it. These are two holdbacks from last years litter. The only color changes they have gone through so far is that the orange has gotten more orange. The only black on them is the pupil of the eyes, even the tongues are colored. My female is gravid again from the same male, due around August I think. Good luck with those ammies, you will be suprised what you pop out. Maybe we can swap out some babies to freshen up the blood for future stock.

That was one sweet clutch you prodeced last year. How are the red ones turning out?

We will see what the future holds, but I'm sure we can do a bit of trading in a few months (unless I decide to get rid of the whole project).

Are they usually that brightly colored as babies?

Well, I am no expert with that litter last year being my first time successfully breeding ammies. The babies were all quite colorful as babies and I wouldn't expect them to color up. I did have a feeling the orange would come in darker though, it was virtually abscent when they were first born. Some of the garden phase had lots of red that usually fades away as they grow. Certain phases go different directions as well as different bloodlines.

This image is a red sibling to the two others I posted. My digital camera has a hard time focusing on the red for some reason.
