Latin name for the blue beauty snake?

azsuboc Nov 11, 2003 07:55 AM

I think this question has been asked here before but I don't think it was awnsered. I'm starting to wonder if anyone knows the awnser. Is the blue beauty a sub species of striped tail? Or is it just a color phase of the taiwan.

Thanks

Don Gallagher

I have a pair of yearling taiwans and this week I will have a pair of blues.

It is not a color phase of the Taiwan. It is a subspecies of striped-tail rat that remarkably still has not been given a subspecific designation. (Though from the one grabowskyi that I've seen, IMO they look closest to that subspecies).
