I was just wondering how long all of you have had your collared lizards... just wondering how long they live... I have read varying times.... but thought I would ask you guys....

I have only had the ones I have now for a couple years, and some less than one year, and a couple others less than two months.

I have one that I hatched out 9 years ago. I have heard of them living 15 years in captivity.

What sort of tank do you have, temps, food you feed, etc.??

proper care. I think brumation for 6-12 weeks a year definatly has its benefits for longevity when you think about it. Tank space is a big factor too. I don't keep mine too long usually, because I find myself wanting to get a new one...I have to part with some to make room for more LOL

the only real "secret" I am aware of to maximizing Crotaphytus longevity in captivity consists of good, old-fashioned TLC...which starts and ends with providing the lizard(s) a quality living environment each and every day. In part, this requires allocating at least a small portion of our daily activities to serving their needs. There's also the matter of providing adequate space, diet, lighting, temperature gradient, basking zones, shelter, and substrate, etc...LOL
