OMG!!! Questions about eggs!!!!

DogStar May 30, 2003 10:58 PM

I was candling my eggs today to show my mom the blood vessels and we were both surprised to see a teeny tail and it MOVED!!!
They will be 55 days on June 8th, does this mean they might be hatching soon???
And also, is is ok if they all hatch in the incubator or when they are hatching should I take them out? The incubator ranges between 80 and 86 degrees usually, the eggs are in a little tupperware thinggy, I can't imagine that would be comfy for new hatched bebe dragons, any suggestions???
I'm sooooooooooo excited!!

it's normal for them to move around some during the incubation period.. they will do it from day one really... it just gets easier to see the "older" they get. average hatch days usually range around 65 to 75 days, so you will probalby have a few more weeks to go.

86 is too high in my opinion, should really keep that lower as much as possible. we do our eggs at 83.1 degrees. I'd suggest keeping them in the incubator after they have come out of the egg for 24 to 48 hours until they have rested and absorbed their egg yolk. once they are active and moving aroud, it's usually pretty safe to switch them over to their perm cage.

congrats on the eggs, g'luck.

thanks,
I ain't gonna get them to stay at 83 degrees, just not going to happen, the incubator heats not cools, i keep my apartment airconditioned during the day but even with that the incubator still gets up there. Don't know what else to do it's like 60 degrees in here all day. I know that its not 86 degrees all the time.

Thanks again!

If the temps arent going above 80, you should be able to keep the incubator at 82-84. If you are using a havobator they tend to increase temps as the environment they are in changes temps. If you get a decent thermostat and make up an incubator or even maybe convert the havobator(again if thats what your using), you shouldnt have any problems keeping temps at 82-83. Being too warm is worse than it being a bit cooler. Chris Allen
