is it neccasary to cool leos before they breed or does that just help?

I haven't cooled my leopard geckos before breeding and have had no problems. On the other hand, my production seems lower (number of eggs per female) than I hear other people speak of, so it seems likely that I'd have better success with a cooling period.

Thanks for the post. I noticed that the male imedetley started to chase the female around when I introduced them together, so he obviously wanted to get some but I cant tell if he has. I keep checking under the females belly but cant notice any difference. I put a moister box in the cage with her to possibly lay her eggs in if she is gravid. I know you are supposed to be able to see the eggs from underneath but cant tell if what I am looking at are eggs or her insides. If anyone has any pics of gravid females or info that would be great. Also I was wondering if there are any ways to make a home made incubator that would work just as good as the ones you buy.

Thanks.
